Sparsity-Based Criteria for Entropy Measures
The complexity of a signal defines the compressibility of its coefficients under appropriate basis. This relation complexity-compressibility suggests a connection between the functions used to measure both of the signal’s properties. A measure of entropy quantifies the degree of complexity of a signal. In a analogous way, a measure of (non-strict) sparsity quantifies the degree of compressibili...
متن کاملA Modified Flux Vector Splitting Scheme for Flow Analysis in Shock Wave Laminar Boundary Layer Interactions
The present work introduces a modified scheme for the solution of compressible 2-D full Navier-Stokes equations, using Flux Vector Splitting method. As a result of this modification, numerical diffusion is reduced. The computer code which is developed based on this algorithm can be used easily and accurately to analyze complex flow fields with discontinuity in properties, in cases such as shock...

متن کاملEntropy and Subtle Interactions
Entropy considerations are used to determine the types of subtle interactions (SI), or psi phenomena, that are consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. The analysis is preceded by a short tutorial on entropy and the second law of thermodynamics. For a coherent advanced (retrocausation) signal to exist, it would conflict with the second law in forward time because it would require a red...
متن کاملEntropy operator for continuous dynamical systems of finite topological entropy
In this paper we introduce the concept of entropy operator for continuous systems of finite topological entropy. It is shown that it generates the Kolmogorov entropy as a special case. If $phi$ is invertible then the entropy operator is bounded with the topological entropy of $phi$ as its norm.
